Government Removes Taxes Off Maize and Wheat

The reading of the 2017 budget bill by the Parliament National Secretary, Henry Rotich, came as good news to Kenyans as he proposed to allow duty free importation of white maize for four months.

The government decided to waive all taxes on the inputs used to manufacture maize and wheat. This serves as a major boost to Kenyans with Ugali being the staple food and the backbone of our economy.

Maize is mostly grown in hot climates although it has been said to thrive in hot, cold and even wet conditions making it versatile. In Kenya, Uasin Ngishu and Trans Nzoia County are the leading producers of Maize.
