Shoppers are overly excited with the supply of the subsidised maize flour by the government. Some literally took one too many bags leaving the stockist with no choice but to limit the number of bags one can shop to two per household.

This is a clear indicator that the government specifically the Ministry of Education needs to find ways to curb this in the near future. For example, the need for strategic grain reserves which enable them to buy more food products from the farmers for a critical time like this and allow for supply of quality seeds.

The small scale farmers need to be enlightened on matters farming and on new farming techniques, fertilizers that can boost the yields and also on planting seasons for surplus harvests.
